Maker Market is a marketplace where independent makers sell what they create. To run it we need a small amount of information about you — this page explains what we hold, why, and who else sees it. The short version: we collect what a shop needs to get a parcel to your door, your card details never touch our servers, and we don't sell your data to anyone.

What we collect

  • Your accountthe email address and display name you sign up with.
  • Your orderswhat you bought, from which shop, and the delivery address you enter at checkout.
  • Your activityfavourites you save, reviews you write, and the messages you exchange with shops. Listing pages also record simple view counts so makers can see what's getting attention; these aren't tied to a profile of you.

Payments

Checkout is handled by Stripe, our payment processor. Your card number goes directly to Stripe and is never stored on Maker Market's servers — we keep only the order record (items, amounts, and payment status) that Stripe confirms back to us. Stripe's own privacy policy applies to the payment itself.

What the makers see

When you place an order, the shop you bought from sees your name, your delivery address, and your order history with them — that's what they need to pack, post, and look after you. They also see the messages and reviews you send them.

Sellers never see your email address (messages go through the marketplace) and never see your payment details.

Emails we send

We email you about things you've done: order confirmations, shipping updates, and replies to your messages. If you join the newsletter we'll also send occasional collection news — every one of those has an unsubscribe link, and skipping the newsletter never affects your orders.

Cookies

We use cookies to keep you signed in and to remember your session — that's it. There are no third-party advertising trackers on Maker Market.

Keeping and deleting your data

We keep your information while your account is active. You can edit your details at any time, remove favourites and messages yourself, and ask us to delete your account through the help page. Order and payment records may be retained where bookkeeping or consumer law requires it, but they're no longer linked to an active profile.

Questions

Anything unclear, or a request about your data — reach us through the help page and a person will reply.
